Carving Out The Light

Image
In this piece of art my goal was to show the merge between the darkness and points of light. I was aiming to bring out the white light by carving it out with an eraser. I was able to use an eraser to carve out the light, a black piece of charcoal to darken up the areas in the back, and finally go in with white chalk to bring out the white areas even more. The portrait is about dramatic shadows, because it obviously shows the depth of the darkness and those shadows bring some serious drama towards any white areas. The most difficult challenge I had to face, was trying to keep the dark areas extra dark so that they looked very sharp and very black. Also trying to keep my arm from messing up the portrait itself, and trying to figure out the size of the pumpkins and where I should start them. My portrait really works in the background where the person is peeking over. This really works because it goes from the deepest black shade I use to the very white chalk and its very dramatic and...

Element of Art: Color

Image
This picture is a picture I snapped while driving by a sunflower field this weekend on my way to a concert. I thought it was beautiful and represented color in a significant way. It shows the light blue as some shades of yellow, orange, and pink are able to blend with each other and create this wispy bursting look of color.  This picture is of some beautiful fall flowers. Although they are fake, they show the beauty of how certain colors look with each other. The photo shows that yellow, orange, and red are all variations of each other and together can create a beautiful picture. This photo is a piece of one of the hallway pictures I saw. The picture shows colors that are broken into small pieces that are put together to create a meaningful picture. There is mainly color in this photo and very few spaces that aren't filled with bright colors, which shows just how color can brighten an area.  This a photo of some fruits that I loved the way there was s...

Pumpkin Thumbnail Sketches

Image
These are the four thumbnail sketches I did of the pumpkins. I choose to focus more on which angle I will be looking at of the pumpkins and how that will affect the size, view, and placement of the finished portrait.

What I Take For Granted

Image
These is a photo of my sister and little cousin Vera. I take my family in general, they all do so much for me and most of the time I forget how much they really mean to me. My family is my rock, they constantly encourage me to be the best I can be. When I get caught up in my everyday life and all the daily stresses that can make me tired and irritated, I forget how much my family does for. Even simple things like driving me to school or taking me to get some food after a long day. My goal is to make sure I'm always aware of all that my family does for me and all the reasons I portably wouldn't be alive today without them. This is a photo of my dresser drawers, and this shows how I take my clothes for granted. I realize that some people don't even have the clothes they need to live, but I'm blessed with a large amount of clothes and pieces to keep my warm. Clothes are something I forget about being thankful for because it is such a normality for me, but for some...

Shell Drawing: Protection

Image
My intentions of this piece of artwork was to convey a message about a father's protection towards his daughter and how that relationship can be created through inanimate objects such as shells. I was able to focus on the sources of light and darkness in order to accomplish the goal of drawing these shells, the light and darkness help bring out the drama of the portrait. My portrait is about light and darkness, how darkness can make a drawing so intense and deep, and the light brings out the shadows and creates a beautiful but simple balance. The most difficult challenge I had to face was trying to blow up the portrait and make these shells a lot larger and more detailed, because in the original photo and real life, the shells were a lot smaller and didn't look as detailed. But when you got closer and realized all the shadows and light, the detail grew greatly. I was able to meet this challenge by using a view finder to help size out the image and draw the different parts of...

What I Obsess Over

Image
Photography:   Photography is something I obsess over greatly. I love taking photos and being able to have a keepsake in a way of a moment that I was enjoying myself. My bedroom is full of photos, including this wall, in which I include some of my favorite memories that I was able to capture in a collage of photos. Photography is a huge part of my daily life, I enjoy taking the simplest of pictures, it always makes me really happy. Nature:  Nature is another thing that I obsess over. Nature is amazing to me. I was hiking multiple trails this weekend with my family and was able to capture some of the most beautiful areas. Spending this time with my family meant a lot to me and being in nature made it even better. Nature is beautiful and is very peaceful.  Sunsets:  Sunsets are one thing I greatly obsess over and it brings the photography aspect into it. Sunsets are one of the most beautiful parts of our world to me, because they h...
